Ite so people and food yeah?
First a traffic update. Getting around Cairo is really cool. At first, it is nerve-wracking, but there is nothing in this world you can’t adjust to, right? My first day i was nervously following Khalil across the street, now i am following with confidence. At first i saw it as a battle between pedestrian and car. Now i see the chaos flows, you must flow with it. Be one with the chaos, its no longer chaos. Become traffic. Still mad respect for the woman i saw yesterday crossing six lanes of traffic talking on her phone holding it with her hijab, eating a bag of chips between two busses no more than an inch in front and behind her, on her face there was not fear but impatience as she waited for the bus in front to pass. respect.
Best way to get around award goes to the microbus. for sure. microbusses are so much fun. its like getting around on a fusion between a van and a jet ski. everyones chatting and enjoying the ride as the driver WHIPS thru the congestion, honking and swearing.
Food has been so amazing. Check out this spread we had the other night.

Thats grilled half of a hen. rice. got some dolmas, theyre delicious tho, not just plain rice and grass right? Its like seasoned up u kno. that green soup is molokhiya, one of my favourite dishes. its basically jute soup, incredible flavour and texture combo and SUPER easy to make. You can do it now. Go to your local halal shop, frozen isle should have a block of molokhiya throw that shit in a pot of hot water with some garlic, ginger, salt, pepper and lemon. To the left of the molokhiya is a typical dish called Faatah. Its also both delicious and simple. fried bread lines the bottom topped with rice and sauce.

Ite another typical dish in Egypt is Koshary. It, like the others, goes harfd. Allegedly the best koshary sold at a restaurant is found at this place called Abo Tarek. It has something like 5 floors with different layouts and the place is always bumpin. The menu is just koshary with rice pudding for dessert. thats it.

The koshary is super filling and costed less than a dollar USD if my memory serves.
Ima post some photos and caption them. check it out.

Yo! That video attached really resonated with me. Perhaps it’s the stream of consciousness blog mixed with the visuals but I had a moment of clarity concerning the Ur-Vibe (Uber-Vibe, Vibe-Allah, the YHWH-Vibe).
I have a suspicion that Adam Sandler’s wardrobe from the Safdie brother’s film Uncut Gems would be a primo outfit for metropolitan Cairo life. He portrays a Jewish jewelry store owner in the Diamond District of NY. must investigate further on the origin of these vibes and their ultra coolness.
