What’s this, part 8 now?

Well Fam-Lay, i am in Oman. I wish i could say i haven’t posted about Oman yet because I have been busy all week but that’s not entirely true. Unfortunately i been sick all week 😦 ikr? First week here & i got hit with the common cold. Not the worst thing that could have happened! Got my luggage, arrived in one piece, etc. etc. alhamdulilah

That said i haven’t had much time to build an impression of Muscat as a city. If i had to reach for some adjectives i might choose

quiet

hot

smooth

small buildings (relative to other cities of its size)

a lot of mountains!

a cab driver ripped me off!

a grocery clerk paid for my groceries!

I seem to have stretched the definition of adjectives a bit much so lets call it.

Being sick in a new place really limits your ability to explore and interact so i definitely experienced some loneliness for suuure. But with loneliness comes introspection and in hindsight it has been a very productive week for me! I have discovered a lot about myself this week. check out this piece of literature…

I know this blog is on the worldwide web, but i do hope none of my haters are viewing this. This is very personal information. So yeah i like cats, people, dislike conflict, have good luck.. sure sure, But the piece that grabbed me the most was “the mass of contradiction.” Ambiguity is key! someone wise once said “You must be comfortable with ambiguity!” Possibly it was my history professor.

contradictions, opposites, these only appear when the concept, or better: illusion, of duality is allowed to enter the scene, yeah?

Ima be real for once, One ambiguity i am not comfortable with rn is whether or not the United States government is gonna keep provoking war with the country across the water from where i am staying.

Ok just got the urge to pop off about the absurdity of the popular American position on Iran, but this isn’t that type of blog is it. Then i would have to go into how its premised on a really lopsided retelling of history and heavy selective memory of the interactions between Iran and the United States, but it isnt that type of blog. I could reach into that semantics bag and rant about how referring to it as a “hostage crisis” is a prime example, but definitely not the only example, of the clouding of events that took place and supporting the position of and with blog type not is this that. So i mean there are always different perspectives that we can view past and current events from. And any resulting conflict is sure to affect the people of Iran & Iraq more than Americans, so IMHO lets push for privileging more perspectives “from Iran’s point of view” if we haven’t already. That makes sense right?

whew dodged that rant.

Time to be real again, i made this blog for friends & fam but idk who is really reading it. If you are reading this and would like to give feedback about what you like and dislike. eg. “more pics, less of your political opinions you dont know anthing about iran’s dangerous capabilities” I mean you could shorten that to just: “more pics, less politics” that will work. But you know im just logging on here posting some pics typing some thoughts, u kno, bla-zay bla-zay

PHOTO DUMP!!!

Muscat.
stuff be all up in the mtns too
the Grand Mosque

One thing i have discovered about Muscat is that Muscat is NOT Richmond.

one of the panels, i didnt snap a photo, says “beware the slow death”

So yeah, Muscat is NOT Richmond lmfao. both got camels, but not the same.

Classes have been going well, wanna see what i’ve learned so far? Here is a story i wrote for homework.

Translated: This is Sowsan. she is a doctor in Muscat. Her friend’s name is Baha. Baha arrives to his house. I went to the house. Are you going to the house or the masjid? Hind arrived. She likes tea. Where is tea? I don’t know. Tea arrives. Hind is happy. perfect.

Mom dont really like trap music, so heres another song

With that, Peace, Ciao, Masalama.
